Alec Oshner, the Founder & Principal Architect of AJO, specializing in high-end custom residential and light commercial design. With nearly a decade of professional experience, Alec brings a collaborative, client-focused approach to every project — creating thoughtful, functional spaces that enhance the way his clients live.

Alec’s passion for architecture began in his hometown of Quincy, Illinois, where he spent countless hours building with Lincoln Logs, Legos, and anything else he could get his hands on. His interest evolved into hand drawing inspired by his father, a former draftsman, before discovering architecture more formally in a high school drafting class. For his final project, he recreated his childhood home in a 3-D design software — an experience that sparked his lifelong love of design.

Alec went on to pursue a Bachelor of Architecture from Iowa State University, studying abroad in Rome, Italy, and commissioning as an Engineer Officer in the U.S. Army Reserves. Throughout his career, he has contributed to 75+ projects across the civilian and military sectors, working with award-winning firms in Houston and Denver on custom homes, mixed-use developments, restaurants, and aerospace facilities.

Alec founded AJO Architects to bring personalized, innovative design solutions to his clients' homes. His design philosophy blends creativity, functionality, and timeless simplicity — ensuring each project is a reflection of his clients' vision and lifestyle.

Outside the studio, Alec enjoys traveling with his family, hiking or snowboarding in the mountains, playing golf, and hitting the pickleball courts.
